Betfred Opening Times Tuesday

On a quiet midweek Tuesday the question is rarely which shop is nearest — it is which shop within reach opens earliest, stays open latest, or is simply worth the walk. Search any postcode, town, city or village, set how far you will travel, and every Betfred inside that radius comes back with its Tuesday hours and the standouts flagged.

How many shops are actually within reach

Because every Tuesday in the estate runs the same weekday hours, the useful question is not what time Betfred opens but how many Betfreds you can choose between. The answer varies enormously: the median shop has another within 0.93 miles, but 135 of the 1,426 have no neighbour inside five miles at all.

That is what the radius buttons in the results are for. Set one mile and you get the shops you would genuinely walk to; set twenty and you get the realistic driving choice, with the earliest opener and latest closer inside that circle flagged so you can pick on hours rather than on distance. In dense boroughs a one-mile circle can hold half a dozen shops; across much of Wales, the Scottish Borders and rural Devon it holds one.

Distances are straight-line, so treat them as a guide to what is plausible rather than a route. A shop half a mile away across a river or a railway can be a fifteen-minute walk.

The two Tuesdays that differ

Both land late in 2027, and they are opposite cases: one is a bank holiday that changes nothing, the other is a working Tuesday that behaves like a Sunday. Switch between them in the results.

Tuesdays that break the weekday rota, 2026 and 2027
DateWhat it isWhat to expect
30 Nov 2027Tuesday St Andrew’s Day, Scotland only Ordinary Tuesday hours everywhere. It is a Scottish bank holiday in name — banks and some council offices close — but it is not a shop-closing one, so Scottish branches trade normally and English and Welsh branches are unaffected either way.
28 Dec 2027Tuesday Boxing Day substitute, all of Great Britain Open, Sunday-style hours likely. Christmas Day 2027 is a Saturday and Boxing Day a Sunday, so the substitutes fall on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December. Substitute days are the quietest of the festive run and most shops trade their Sunday pattern.

Nothing else in the calendar touches a Tuesday between now and 2028. No Christmas Day, no Boxing Day proper, no New Year’s Day, no Good Friday, neither December eve. Select either of the two above and the results recalculate: St Andrew’s Day tells you how many of your nearby shops are actually in Scotland and then confirms nothing changes, while the Boxing Day substitute shows each shop’s Sunday pattern against its normal Tuesday so you can see exactly what you lose.

Tuesday sport, and the race you cannot bet on in a shop

Tuesday is the day the big festivals begin. Cheltenham opens on a Tuesday with Champion Hurdle day, Royal Ascot opens on a Tuesday, Glorious Goodwood opens on a Tuesday, and the Champions League has shared Tuesday nights with Wednesday for three decades. For a supposedly quiet midweek day, the first Tuesday of a festival is one of the heaviest trading days in the calendar.

There is one famous Tuesday race you cannot walk into a shop for. The Melbourne Cup runs on the first Tuesday in November — 3 November 2026 and 2 November 2027 — and it goes off at around four in the morning UK time, hours before any Betfred unlocks its door. With the earliest opening in the whole verified estate at 07:30, a Melbourne Cup bet placed over a counter has to be struck the day before or taken online.

As on every other day, published weekday hours are flat across the year. We have no evidence that shops open earlier for Cheltenham Tuesday or stay open later for a Champions League night, so assume the listed times and check the shop’s Google listing if it matters.

The loneliest Betfreds in Britain

These six shops are the furthest from any other Betfred. If you are near one of them, the radius buttons will not help — it is that shop or nothing, which makes its Tuesday hours worth knowing precisely.

Distances are straight-line to the next nearest Betfred shop.

England, Scotland and Wales

Midweek is the most uniform part of the week across the three nations, and Tuesday is no exception. The one Tuesday where the nations diverge on paper is St Andrew’s Day 2027, and even that changes no trading hours.

How confident each time is

Verified — 295 shops whose weekly hours come from published branch times. Every hours figure on this page is calculated from these shops alone.

Standard pattern — 1,111 shops we have not verified individually, shown on the estate’s usual weekday shape as a working expectation rather than a fact. A further 20 shops have no hours at all and say so.

The distance figures are different in kind and worth separating out. Every shop on this site has a mapped position, so the radius filter, the median gap of 0.93 miles and the isolation list are computed from all 1,426 shops rather than the verified 295. Those numbers are as good as the coordinates, which are accurate to the postcode and occasionally approximate for a retail park or shopping centre unit — flagged on the row where that applies.

The usual structural caveat applies to the hours: branch times are published as a single Monday-to-Friday figure, so the Tuesday shown for each shop is by definition the same as its Monday. Nothing here is a legal certainty, because no Tuesday in this period is Christmas Day.

Frequently asked questions

What time does Betfred open on a Tuesday?

The openings split three ways inside a single hour. Of the 295 shops whose hours we have verified, 103 open at 09:00, 97 at 08:30 and 93 at 08:00, so 294 of 295 are trading by 09:00. One shop opens at 07:30 and one not until 10:00.

What time does Betfred close on a Tuesday?

145 of the 295 verified shops trade until 22:00 and 279 are open past 20:00, with the rest finishing at 20:00, 20:30, 21:00 or 21:30. The earliest close in the verified estate is 18:00, at one precinct unit.

How many Betfred shops will be within reach of me?

That is what the radius buttons in the results answer. Across the estate the median shop has another within 0.93 miles and 480 shops have a neighbour inside half a mile, but 135 of the 1,426 have nothing else inside five miles. Search your postcode, then set a radius from one to twenty miles and you will see every Betfred inside that circle with the earliest opener and latest closer flagged.

Are Betfred's Tuesday hours the same as Monday and Wednesday?

Yes. Branch hours are published as a single Monday-to-Friday figure rather than five separate days, so for every shop we have verified the Tuesday is identical to the Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The figures here work for any weekday, but a branch running slightly different midweek hours would not show up in the published data.

Which Tuesdays have different opening times?

Two between now and the end of 2027, both late in 2027. St Andrew's Day on Tuesday 30 November is a Scottish bank holiday but not a shop-closing one, so hours are unchanged everywhere. The Boxing Day substitute on Tuesday 28 December is a genuine bank holiday across Great Britain, and most shops will run Sunday-style hours on it. Both are selectable in the results.

Is Betfred open on St Andrew's Day?

Yes, on normal hours. St Andrew's Day is a bank holiday in Scotland in the sense that banks and some public offices close, but it has never been a day when high-street betting shops shut. Scottish branches trade their ordinary Tuesday, and English and Welsh branches are not affected at all.

Can I bet on the Melbourne Cup in a Betfred shop?

Not as it runs. The Melbourne Cup goes off on the first Tuesday in November at around four in the morning UK time - 3 November 2026 and 2 November 2027 - and the earliest opening anywhere in the verified estate is 07:30, so no shop is open. A counter bet has to be placed the day before, or you use the app.

Is Tuesday a quiet day in a betting shop?

Usually, but not always. Most Tuesdays are ordinary midweek trading, which is why this page focuses on choice of shop rather than choice of hour. The exceptions are big: Cheltenham, Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood all open on a Tuesday, and Champions League football shares Tuesday nights with Wednesday, so a festival Tuesday is among the busiest days of the year.

Do shops open earlier for Cheltenham Tuesday?

We have no evidence that they do, and we will not claim it. Published weekday hours are flat across the year, so a shop opening at 09:00 in February very probably opens at 09:00 on Champion Hurdle day too. If a branch does open early for a festival, its Google listing is the likeliest place to see it, and every row here links to it.

How long is a Tuesday compared with the weekend?

The verified average is 12h 55m, identical to every other weekday and within two minutes of Saturday's 12h 53m. Sunday is the outlier at 11h 22m, roughly 1h 32m shorter, and almost all of that gap is a later Sunday start rather than an earlier finish.
