Ladypool Road in Balsall Heath and Warwick Road in Greet run 09:00 to 22:00 every day of the week. The one central exception is 63 New Street, which closes at 18:00 on a Sunday. Live status for every shop is in the lists below, and the panel above counts down to the last central Birmingham Betfred closing tonight.

Every Betfred in this list carries its own published weekly times. Only two branches are in the city centre itself, both within a few minutes of New Street station; the other four line the main roads out through the inner districts. Distances are straight-line estimates from New Street station. Street View opens at the shop’s postcode, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.
Central Birmingham Betfred opening times compared
The full weekly pattern for every central branch in one table. Today’s column is highlighted.
Central Birmingham hours are strikingly consistent. All six branches keep identical times Monday to Saturday and all six close at 22:00, so the only real differences are the start time — 08:00 at the Pallasades, 08:30 at Coventry Road and Soho Road, 09:00 elsewhere — and Sunday, when 63 New Street runs a shorter 10:00 to 18:00 day.

Earliest and latest Betfred shops in Birmingham
Weekday times are published for all 32 Birmingham branches, so this section covers the whole city.
Open earliest
No Birmingham Betfred opens before 08:00, and nearly half open at exactly that time: 15 of the 32, including the Pallasades by New Street station, Kings Heath, Northfield, Cotteridge, both Erdington High Street shops, Kingstanding Circle and Acocks Green. Another ten open at 08:30, and the last 7 — among them 63 New Street, Ladypool Road, Warwick Road and Great Barr — at 09:00.
Open latest
26 branches trade until 22:00 on weekdays, so in most of Birmingham an evening bet is easy to place. The early finishers are the Swan Centre in Yardley and Stratford Road in Hall Green, both at 20:30, followed by Coventry Road in Sheldon, Birmingham Road in Sutton Coldfield and both Shard End shops at 21:00.
Open until 22:00 every day: five central branches — the Pallasades, Coventry Road, Ladypool Road, Warwick Road and Soho Road — keep a 22:00 finish seven days a week, Sunday included.
Betfred Birmingham Sunday opening times
Sunday in central Birmingham mostly means a slightly later start rather than an earlier finish. Doors open at 09:00 or 10:00, and five of the six branches still close at 22:00.
| Shop | Opens | Closes | Find the shop |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Street Station (Pallasades)Unit 87, Pallasades Shopping Centre, B2 4DH | 09:00 | 22:00 | |
| Small Heath (Coventry Road)370 Coventry Road, B10 0XE | 09:00 | 22:00 | |
| Balsall Heath (Ladypool Road)128–130 Ladypool Road, B12 8JA | 09:00 | 22:00 | |
| Greet (Warwick Road)230 Warwick Road, B11 2ND | 09:00 | 22:00 | |
| Handsworth (Soho Road)262 Soho Road, B21 9LX | 09:00 | 22:00 | |
| New Street63 New Street, B2 5DU | 10:00 | 18:00 |
If you are in the city centre on a Sunday evening, head for the Pallasades branch rather than 63 New Street: the two are a couple of minutes apart, but New Street closes at 18:00 while the Pallasades stays open until 22:00. Ladypool Road and Warwick Road are the only central branches with the same 09:00 to 22:00 hours on a Sunday as on a weekday.
Betfred Birmingham bank holiday opening times
Betting shops in England and Wales can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all 32 Birmingham branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.
On the other bank holidays, Birmingham branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Dates in the tables below update automatically.
Easter opening times
Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Birmingham branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.
| Day | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Good Friday | Friday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal weekday times |
| Easter Saturday | Saturday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal Saturday times |
| Easter Sunday | First Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March | — | Normal Sunday times |
| Easter Monday | Day after Easter Sunday | — | Weekday or shortened hours |
May and August bank holidays
The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide early close on some bank holiday Mondays, so check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before.
| Bank holiday | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early May bank holiday | First Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible early close |
| Spring bank holiday | Last Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible early close |
| Summer bank holiday | Last Monday in August | — | Weekday opening, possible early close |
Christmas and New Year opening times
The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Birmingham times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.
| Day | Date | Next date | Usual pattern in Birmingham |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christmas Eve | 24 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| Christmas Day | 25 December | — | Closed all day, every shop |
| Boxing Day | 26 December | — | Normal opening, close around 20:00 |
| Substitute bank holiday | When 25 or 26 December falls on a weekend | — | Normal times for that day |
| New Year’s Eve | 31 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| New Year’s Day | 1 January | — | Later start around 10:00, close around 20:00 |
Each Birmingham branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. Shops inside shopping centres, such as the Swan Centre in Yardley and the Chelmsley Wood precinct, may also follow the centre’s own festive hours. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.
How the live opening times work
Everything live on this page reads the clock in Birmingham (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.
The panel at the top
The top panel covers the six central Birmingham Betfred branches, whose full weekly times are published. It tells you how many are open right now, which is next to close, and how long until the last one shuts for the night. After the last close it switches to counting down to the first shop opening the next morning.
The shop rows
Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.
Map, directions and Street View
Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of all 32 Birmingham branches.

Weekday times for all 26 shops are published for each branch, and Kings Heath and the Swan Centre also publish full weekly times. Rows marked weekend typical assume the branch keeps its weekday hours on a Saturday and opens at 09:00 on a Sunday with its usual closing time — the pattern seven of the eight Birmingham branches with published weekly times follow. Check the window card before a weekend visit.
Sutton Coldfield is part of Birmingham City Council. The Chelmsley Wood, Castle Bromwich and Hobs Moat branches are in Solihull, and Bearwood, Quinton and Blackheath are in Sandwell, but all carry a Birmingham address in directory listings. Wolverhampton, Walsall, West Bromwich and Dudley have Betfred branches of their own that are not listed here.

Weekday times in every row are published for that branch. These bookmakers do not publish weekend times for most of their Birmingham shops, so the rows show weekday times only and are marked weekday listed. The Ladbrokes in The Burlington on Stephenson Street opens at 07:30, half an hour before any Betfred in the city.
This is a selection of the shops closest to the central Betfred branches rather than a complete list: William Hill alone has more than 40 shops in Birmingham. Every bookmaker on this page is closed on Christmas Day by law.

| Branches listed in Birmingham | 32 betting shops |

Betfred began in Salford in 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop, and it runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington. Birmingham’s Betfred map is the opposite of most cities’: only two branches are in the city centre, and the estate is spread along the arterial roads and suburban high streets instead — 7 in north Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield, 7 in east Birmingham, 6 in south Birmingham and 6 just over the boundary in Solihull and Sandwell.
For rail travellers, the Pallasades branch sits beside New Street station, and both it and 63 New Street are a short walk from Moor Street and Snow Hill. On matchdays, 370 Coventry Road in Small Heath is about a five-minute walk from St Andrew’s, while Villa Park has no Betfred close by — the nearest are the two Erdington High Street shops, around two miles away. For cricket at Edgbaston, Ladypool Road is just over a mile from the ground, and for Birmingham Airport and the NEC, the closest branches are 2146 Coventry Road in Sheldon and Coppice Way in Chelmsley Wood.
