Bournemouth is one of the most consistent Betfred estates on this site and one of the latest-closing. 8 of the ten branches trade until 22:00 on weekdays, seven of them right through to 22:00 on a Sunday, and every single shop opens at 09:00 on a Sunday. Nine of the ten keep exactly the same hours on a Saturday as they do midweek. The two exceptions to the late finishes are Westbourne and Moordown, both closing at 21:00. Full published weekly times are available for every branch, so every countdown on this page is the shop’s own.

Every Betfred in this list carries its own published weekly times, and all four close at 22:00 seven days a week. They sit in a line running east from the Square: two on Old Christchurch Road, one on Commercial Road towards the Triangle and one on Holdenhurst Road at Lansdowne, by the station. Distances are straight-line estimates from the Square. Street View opens at the shop’s position, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.

Bournemouth Betfred opening times compared

The full weekly pattern for all ten branches in one table, town-centre shops first. Today’s column is highlighted.

Nine of the ten branches keep identical hours Monday to Saturday, which makes Bournemouth the most uniform estate covered on this site. The only exception is Charminster Road, which opens half an hour earlier on a Saturday at 08:30. Sunday is equally tidy at the front end — every branch opens at 09:00 — and the only variation is the closing time, where seven run to 22:00 and three stop at 20:00.

Earliest and latest Betfred shops in Bournemouth

Full weekly times are published for all ten branches, so this section covers every shop on the page.

Open earliest

Two branches open at 08:00 on weekdays and again on a Saturday: 10–12 Holdenhurst Road at Lansdowne, by the station, and 593 Christchurch Road in Boscombe. Six more open at 08:30, and only Charminster Road and Moordown wait until 09:00 midweek — and Charminster Road moves to 08:30 on a Saturday. Nothing in Bournemouth opens before 08:00 on any day.

Open latest

8 of the ten trade until 22:00 on weekdays, including all four town-centre branches, Charminster Road, Winton, Boscombe and Southbourne. Only two close earlier: Poole Road in Westbourne and Wimborne Road in Moordown, both at 21:00. There is nothing in Bournemouth closing at 20:00 or 20:30 on a weekday, which sets it apart from most towns of its size.

The longest days in the town: Holdenhurst Road at Lansdowne and Christchurch Road in Boscombe both run 08:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 09:00 to 22:00 on a Sunday — fourteen hours a day, six days a week, and thirteen on a Sunday.

Betfred Bournemouth Sunday opening times

Every Bournemouth branch opens at 09:00 on a Sunday, so the only question is when it closes — and seven of the ten stay open until 22:00.

This is one of the strongest Sundays of any town on this site: seven branches open thirteen hours, from 09:00 to 22:00, and none opens later than 09:00 or closes before 20:00. The three 20:00 closers are Westbourne, Moordown and Southbourne. If you are on the seafront or in the town centre, all four central shops run to 22:00.

Betfred Bournemouth bank holiday opening times

Betting shops in England can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all ten Bournemouth branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.

Bank holidays matter more in a resort town than most places, because they are among the busiest trading days of the year. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide 20:00 close on bank holiday Mondays, which would cut two hours off the eight 22:00 branches, so check the window card the week before. Dates in the tables below update automatically.

Easter opening times

Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Easter is the start of the Bournemouth season, so expect branches to be busy and to follow their usual pattern for that day.

Easter moves each year. Dates shown are the next Easter weekend.

May and August bank holidays

The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday, and all three land in Bournemouth’s main season. The August bank holiday usually falls just before or after the Bournemouth Air Festival, when the town centre and seafront are at their busiest.

All three fall on a Monday, so the dates shift each year.

Christmas and New Year opening times

The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Bournemouth times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.

The Christmas Day closure is a licence condition under the Gambling Act 2005. Next dates update automatically.

New Year’s Eve31 December—Normal opening, early close around 18:00

Each Bournemouth branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January. Out of season, the town-centre shops occasionally trim their late evenings, so the 22:00 finishes are worth confirming in midwinter.

How the live opening times work

Everything live on this page reads the clock in Bournemouth (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.

The panel at the top

The top panel covers the four Betfred branches within a mile of the Square. It tells you how many are open right now, which is next to close, and how long until the last one shuts for the night. After the last close it switches to counting down to the first shop opening the next morning.

The shop rows

Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.

Map, directions and Street View

Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of all ten Bournemouth branches.

Betfred across Bournemouth

The other six branches, spread from Westbourne in the west to Southbourne in the east and up the Wimborne Road corridor to Moordown. All six publish full weekly times, so their live status is as exact as the town-centre shops’.

Directions work without this. Sharing your location re-orders every list nearest-first.

Four of these six close at 22:00 on weekdays, so the late finishes are not just a town-centre thing. Boscombe is the pick of them, running 08:00 to 22:00 six days a week and 09:00 to 22:00 on a Sunday, and it is the nearest branch to the Vitality Stadium. Westbourne and Moordown are the two 21:00 closers, and Southbourne is the only 22:00 weekday shop that pulls back to 20:00 on a Sunday.

Betfred near Bournemouth

Bournemouth runs straight into Poole to the west and Christchurch to the east, and the branches in both are listed under their own post towns rather than under Bournemouth.

Poole has its own estate a few miles along the coast, with Christchurch, Ferndown, New Milton and Ringwood beyond them. The Ferndown branch on Victoria Road is about three and a half miles from Moordown, the nearest Bournemouth shop to it. Southampton, roughly thirty miles east, has a far larger estate.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have been a single council since 2019, so the Poole and Christchurch branches share the same licensing authority as the ten on this page even though their addresses differ. If you are heading for Poole or Christchurch rather than Bournemouth itself, use the location button above: the directions button always routes to the nearest of the ten Bournemouth-addressed branches.

Other bookmakers in Bournemouth

Bournemouth is a three-brand town, and Betfred is the biggest of them, with Coral and Ladbrokes splitting most of the rest.

Coral has shops at 13 Richmond Hill in the town centre, a few steps from the Old Christchurch Road Betfred, plus 39 Charminster Road, 63 Seamoor Road in Westbourne, 568–570 Christchurch Road in Boscombe, 43 Southbourne Grove, 472–474 Castle Lane West, 270 Wallisdown Road and 1446 Wimborne Road in Kinson. Ladbrokes trades at 136 Commercial Road — two doors from the Betfred at 132–134 — and at 3 and 379 Holdenhurst Road, 685 and 1093 Christchurch Road in Boscombe, and Ringwood Road in Wallisdown.

We are still confirming full weekly times branch by branch for the non-Betfred shops in Bournemouth, so they are not listed with live status on this page yet. Three spots have a Betfred and a rival within a few yards: Commercial Road, Richmond Hill by the Square, and Seamoor Road in Westbourne. Every bookmaker in the town is closed on Christmas Day by law.

Betfred began in Salford in 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop, and it runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington, about 250 miles north. Bournemouth is one of its strongest south-coast towns: ten shops, four of them within a mile of the Square. The pattern follows the old resort geography rather than a ring of estates — two shops on Old Christchurch Road, one on Commercial Road towards the Triangle and one at Lansdowne by the station, then the suburban high streets at Westbourne, Charminster, Winton, Moordown, Boscombe and Southbourne.

For travellers, 10–12 Holdenhurst Road is the one to know: a few minutes from Bournemouth station and the coach station, and the earliest opening in town at 08:00. The two Old Christchurch Road shops are closest to the Square, the Gardens and the pier. On matchdays at the Vitality Stadium in Kings Park, 593 Christchurch Road in Boscombe is the nearest branch at about a mile, and it keeps the same 08:00 to 22:00 hours as Lansdowne.

Frequently asked questions

How many Betfred shops are there in Bournemouth?
Ten Betfred branches carry a Bournemouth address, all licensed by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. Four are within a mile of Bournemouth Square, and the other six serve Westbourne, Charminster, Winton, Moordown, Boscombe and Southbourne. Poole, Christchurch and Ferndown have branches listed under their own names.
What time does Betfred open in Bournemouth?
Two branches open at 08:00 on weekdays — Holdenhurst Road at Lansdowne and Christchurch Road in Boscombe — with 6 more at 08:30 and two at 09:00. Every single Bournemouth branch opens at 09:00 on a Sunday, which is unusually consistent, and nine of the ten keep the same hours on a Saturday as on a weekday.
What time does Betfred close in Bournemouth?
8 of the ten close at 22:00 on weekdays, including all four town-centre shops. Only Poole Road in Westbourne and Wimborne Road in Moordown close earlier, both at 21:00. Nothing in Bournemouth shuts before 21:00 on a weekday.
Which Betfred in Bournemouth is open latest on a Sunday?
Seven of the ten trade until 22:00 on a Sunday, all opening at 09:00 — the four town-centre branches plus Charminster Road, Winton and Boscombe. The three that finish earlier are Westbourne, Moordown and Southbourne, all at 20:00.
Is Betfred open on Christmas Day?
No. Every betting shop in Great Britain is closed on Christmas Day. It is a condition attached to premises licences under the Gambling Act 2005, not a company decision.
Are Betfred shops in Bournemouth open on bank holidays?
Yes, and in a seaside resort they are among the busiest days of the year. Good Friday, Easter Monday and the May and August bank holidays are all trading days, usually on normal or slightly shortened hours. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide 20:00 close on bank holiday Mondays. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally close early, and New Year’s Day opens later.
Which Betfred is nearest to Bournemouth station and the Vitality Stadium?
10–12 Holdenhurst Road at Lansdowne is the closest to Bournemouth station, a few minutes’ walk, and it is also the earliest opener in town at 08:00. For AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in Kings Park, 593 Christchurch Road in Boscombe is the nearest of the ten, roughly a mile from the ground.
How do I find the nearest Betfred to me in Bournemouth?
Tap “Use my current location”. Every list on this page then re-orders nearest-first, and the directions button at the top routes you to the closest of the ten Bournemouth Betfred shops.
