Jameson Street in the centre and Holderness Road in east Hull close at 22:00 on weekdays; the other seven close at 21:00. The surprise is Saturday, when Holderness Road outlasts the city centre — it holds 22:00 while Jameson Street drops to 21:00. Sunday is short across the board: no Hull shop is open until 22:00, and several close at 18:00 or 19:00. The Willerby branch is listed further down without live status because we could only confirm its weekday hours.

Cottingham is a separate village two miles beyond the city boundary, licensed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Distances are straight-line estimates from Queen Victoria Square.
Hull Betfred opening times compared
The full weekly pattern for the eight branches with published times, nearest the centre first. The Willerby shop is listed further down. Today’s column is highlighted.
No Hull branch keeps the same hours on a Saturday as midweek. Most open earlier on a Saturday — four at 08:00 — and all but one close earlier, at 20:00 or 21:00. The exception is Holderness Road, which stays open to 22:00 on a Saturday, the latest Saturday finish in the city. Sunday runs from a 09:00 to 10:00 start to finishes between 18:00 and 21:30.

This section covers the eight branches with published times. The Willerby shop is listed further down.
Open earliest
Jameson Street opens first on weekdays, at 08:00; Holderness Road, Beverley Road and the Ings Centre follow at 08:30, and the other four at 09:00. Saturday is earlier, with Holderness Road, Hessle Road, Beverley Road and Jameson Street all open at 08:00. On a Sunday, Jameson Street and Holderness Road open at 09:00 and the rest between 09:30 and 10:00.
Open latest
Jameson Street and Holderness Road close at 22:00 on weekdays; the other six close at 21:00. On a Saturday only Holderness Road holds 22:00 — the city-centre shop closes at 21:00 and the rest at 20:00. After 21:00 on a Saturday, east Hull is the only place to find an open Betfred.
The one to remember: 264 Holderness Road is Hull’s latest-trading Betfred across the weekend — 22:00 on a Saturday and 21:30 on a Sunday, later than the city centre on both days.
Betfred Hull Sunday opening times
Sunday in Hull is short: no branch reaches 22:00, and three close at 18:00 or 19:00.

Beverley Road closes at 20:00, Hessle Road, the Ings Centre and Cottingham at 19:00, and Spring Bank West and Wold Road at 18:00. For an evening kick-off on a Sunday, Holderness Road and the city centre are the only realistic options.
Betfred Hull bank holiday opening times
Betting shops in England can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all nine Hull-area branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.
On the other bank holidays, Hull branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Betfred has in past years announced that its shops close at 20:00 on bank holiday Mondays, which would take two hours off Jameson Street and Holderness Road and an hour off the rest.
Easter opening times
Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Hull branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.
| Day | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Good Friday | Friday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal weekday times |
| Easter Saturday | Saturday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal Saturday times |
| Easter Sunday | First Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March | — | Normal Sunday times |
| Easter Monday | Day after Easter Sunday | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
May and August bank holidays
The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before; with most Hull shops already closing at 21:00, a 20:00 bank holiday close costs them an hour.
| Bank holiday | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early May bank holiday | First Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
| Spring bank holiday | Last Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
| Summer bank holiday | Last Monday in August | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
Christmas and New Year opening times
The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Hull times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.
| Day | Date | Next date | Usual pattern in Hull |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christmas Eve | 24 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| Christmas Day | 25 December | — | Closed all day, every shop |
| Boxing Day | 26 December | — | Normal opening, close around 20:00 |
| Substitute bank holiday | When 25 or 26 December falls on a weekend | — | Normal times for that day |
| New Year’s Eve | 31 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| New Year’s Day | 1 January | — | Later start around 10:00, close around 20:00 |
Each Hull branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The Broadmead shop sits inside the Hull Shopping Quarter and may also follow the centre’s own festive hours. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.
How the live opening times work
Everything live on this page reads the clock in Hull (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.
The panel at the top
The top panel covers the eight Hull-area branches with published weekly times. It tells you how many are open right now, which is next to close, and how long until the last one shuts for the night. The Willerby shop is not included because we only have its weekday hours.
The shop rows
Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Times not published means we have no confirmed hours for that branch. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.
Map, directions and Street View
Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of all nine branches, including Willerby, whose weekend times are not published.
Hull branches with unconfirmed times
One more Betfred trades under a Hull address, at Willerby, but we have only been able to confirm its weekday hours.
-
Betfred, Willerby (Kingston Road)143 Kingston Road, Willerby, Hull HU10 6AL
| Shop | Address | Weekly times |
|---|---|---|
| Willerby | 143 Kingston Road, Willerby, HU10 6AL | Weekday 09:00 to 22:00 confirmed; Saturday and Sunday not published |
The map, directions and Street View buttons all work for Willerby, and it is included when you use the location button, so it will still come up as your nearest shop on the western edge of the city. Current listings put it at 09:00 to 22:00 on weekdays — one of only three Hull-area shops open that late — but we could not find a source for its weekend hours, so we have not given it a live row. Betfred’s shop line is 0800 032 0878.
Betfred near Hull
Hull sits on the north bank of the Humber, and the Betfred branches beyond the city are listed under their own town names.
Hessle, Beverley, Brough and Withernsea all have Betfred branches of their own, and Hedon’s St Augustine’s Gate shop appears in the licensing register but not in current branch listings. The register also carries Hull entries at Annandale Road and 292 Marfleet Lane, neither of which appears in current listings. Across the Humber Bridge, Grimsby and Cleethorpes have their own pages.
The seven city branches are licensed by Hull City Council; Cottingham and Willerby, though they carry a Hull postal address, sit in the East Riding and are licensed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. If you are heading for Hessle or Beverley, use the location button above: the directions button always routes to the nearest of the nine Hull-area branches.
Other bookmakers in Hull
Hull is a William Hill city by a wide margin, with seventeen shops against Betfred’s nine.
William Hill trades on Paragon Street in the centre and along every main road out, including Beverley Road, Spring Bank, Newland Avenue, Anlaby Road, Hessle Road, Holderness Road and Marfleet Lane. Coral has six shops, among them Prospect Street, Anlaby Road and Marfleet Lane; Ladbrokes has four, including Paragon Street, Newland Avenue and Holderness Road; BOYLE Sports has three, including Jameson Street and Holderness Road; and Paddy Power trades on King Edward Street.
We are still confirming full weekly times branch by branch for the non-Betfred shops in Hull, so they are not listed with live status on this page yet. Holderness Road is the stretch to know in east Hull: the Betfred, a BOYLE Sports, a Ladbrokes and a William Hill all trade within a few hundred yards, and the Betfred is the latest of them to close on a weekend evening. Every bookmaker in the city is closed on Christmas Day by law.

Betfred began in Salford in 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop, and it runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington, about 100 miles west. Hull has nine branches around the city, strung out along the radial roads, plus the villages of Cottingham and Willerby. It is a neighbourhood estate: seven of the nine close at 21:00 on weekdays, and only the city centre and east Hull trade to 22:00.
For visitors, 25 Jameson Street is the one to know: a few minutes from Hull Paragon Interchange, Queen Victoria Square and the Princes Quay area, and open until 22:00 on weekdays. For the MKM Stadium, home of Hull City and Hull FC, the Hessle Road and Spring Bank West shops are both about a mile away. For Hull KR at Craven Park in east Hull, Holderness Road is the nearest and the latest-trading at the weekend.
