Every Betfred in this list carries its own published weekly times, which is why branches a few streets apart can differ by two hours at closing time. Distances are straight-line estimates from St Peter’s Square. Street View opens at the shop’s approximate position, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.
Betfred Manchester opening times compared
The full weekly pattern for every branch in one table. Today’s column is highlighted.
Only eight of the 23 keep identical hours Monday to Saturday: King Street West, Deansgate, the Arndale, Mosley Street, Oldham Street, Clayton, Hyde Road and 1299–1303 Ashton Old Road. Eleven branches open earlier on a Saturday than on a weekday, usually by half an hour, and several of those also finish an hour sooner on a Saturday night — Nicholas Street, Hathersage Road, Chapman Street and Northern Moor all close at 20:00 on a Saturday.

Earliest and latest Betfred shops in Manchester
If you want a bet on before work or after an evening kick-off, the gap between branches is wide: some shops give you fourteen hours a day, others eleven.
Open earliest
Four of the 23 Manchester branches open at 08:00 on weekdays: the Arndale, Mosley Street and Oldham Street shops in the city centre, and Hale Top in Wythenshawe. On a Saturday the 08:00 group grows to six, as Harpurhey and Levenshulme join it. No Betfred in Manchester is published as opening before 08:00.
Nine branches do not open until 09:00 on weekdays: Chinatown (Nicholas Street), Beswick Street, Hulme, Hathersage Road, Grove Village, Claremont Road, Chapman Street (Gorton), Northenden and Northern Moor.
Open latest
Seven branches trade until 22:00 on weekdays: the Arndale, Mosley Street, Oldham Street, Hulme, Bury Old Road, Clayton and Levenshulme. At the other end, King Street West, Deansgate, Beswick Street and Claremont Road all close at 20:00 — worth knowing if you finish work on Deansgate, because Mosley Street, around ten minutes’ walk away, stays open two hours longer.
Open until 22:00 every day: the Arndale (Halle Mall), Mosley Street, Oldham Street and Levenshulme keep a 22:00 finish seven days a week. They are the only four Betfred shops in Manchester still open at 21:45 on a Sunday.
Betfred Manchester Sunday opening times
Sunday is the day Manchester branches differ most. Doors open between 09:00 and 10:00, and closing runs all the way from 18:00 to 22:00.

Seven branches, mostly in east and south Manchester, shut at 18:00 on a Sunday, which is before most late Premier League games finish. If you plan to watch the evening football or the Sunday night greyhound cards in the shop, pick one of the four 22:00 branches or 1299–1303 Ashton Old Road, which stays open until 21:30.
Betfred Manchester bank holiday opening times
Betting shops in England and Wales can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all 23 Manchester branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.
On the other bank holidays, Manchester branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Dates in the tables below update automatically.
Easter opening times
Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Manchester branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.
| Day | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Good Friday | Friday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal weekday times |
| Easter Saturday | Saturday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal Saturday times |
| Easter Sunday | First Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March | — | Normal Sunday times |
| Easter Monday | Day after Easter Sunday | — | Weekday or shortened hours |
May and August bank holidays
The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide early close on some bank holiday Mondays, so check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before.
| Bank holiday | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early May bank holiday | First Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible early close |
| Spring bank holiday | Last Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible early close |
| Summer bank holiday | Last Monday in August | — | Weekday opening, possible early close |
Christmas and New Year opening times
The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Manchester times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.
| Day | Date | Next date | Usual pattern in Manchester |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christmas Eve | 24 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| Christmas Day | 25 December | — | Closed all day, every shop |
| Boxing Day | 26 December | — | Normal opening, close around 20:00 |
| Substitute bank holiday | When 25 or 26 December falls on a weekend | — | Normal times for that day |
| New Year’s Eve | 31 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| New Year’s Day | 1 January | — | Later start around 10:00, close around 20:00 |
Each Manchester branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. Shops inside the Arndale and other shopping centres may also follow the centre’s own festive hours. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.
How the live opening times work
Everything live on this page reads the clock in Manchester (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.
The panel at the top
The top panel covers the 23 Betfred branches in Manchester. It tells you how many are open right now, which is next to close, and how long until the last one shuts for the night. After the last close it switches to counting down to the first shop opening the next morning.
The shop rows
Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.
Map, directions and Street View
Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top.

Weekday times in every row are published for that branch. Where a row is marked weekend typical, Saturday and Sunday use that bookmaker’s most common Manchester pattern. The William Hill on Middleton Road in Crumpsall, the BoyleSports on Faulkner Street and every row marked listed carry their own full weekly times. Paddy Power and Jennings do not publish weekend times for their Manchester shops, so those rows show weekday times only.
Directory listings suggest a few further William Hill branches with Manchester postcodes, and a Coral listing that shares its address with the Arndale Betfred, that we have not yet been able to confirm. They will be added once verified. Every bookmaker on this page is closed on Christmas Day by law.

Betfred is a local story in Manchester. Brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop in Ordsall, Salford, in 1967, just across the River Irwell from the city centre, and the company still has offices at MediaCityUK. Today’s Manchester estate splits into five groups. Six branches sit in the city centre, from King Street West and Deansgate across to the Arndale, Mosley Street, Oldham Street and Chinatown. Six more line the main roads east, from Beswick Street out through Clayton, Openshaw and Gorton. Another six serve the inner south, from Hulme and Moss Side down Stockport Road to Levenshulme and along Wilmslow Road to Withington. North Manchester has two, on Bury Old Road and in Harpurhey’s North City centre, and the last three are in Northenden, Northern Moor and Wythenshawe.
