Morecambe’s three Betfred shops are identical during the week — 09:00 to 21:00 Monday to Friday — and separate at the weekend. The Westgate Shopping Centre shop is the one to know: it holds 21:00 on a Saturday and stays open until 20:00 on a Sunday, while Euston Road and Torrisholme close at 20:00 on a Saturday and 18:00 on a Sunday. None reaches 22:00. A note on the times: Morecambe is not covered by the directory we use for most towns, so these times come from a single business listing. They are consistent across all three shops, but worth confirming before a special trip.

Euston Road runs 09:00 to 21:00 Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 20:00 on a Saturday and 10:00 to 18:00 on a Sunday. It sits between the town centre and the seafront, with a Ladbrokes on Yorkshire Street East and a William Hill on Regent Road about a mile west in the West End. Distances are straight-line estimates from Euston Road. Street View opens at the shop’s position, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.

Earliest and latest Betfred shops in Morecambe

Full weekly times are published for all three branches, so this section covers every shop on the page.

Open earliest

All three open at 09:00 Monday to Friday and 08:30 on a Saturday. On a Sunday, Westgate opens at 09:00 and Euston Road and Torrisholme at 10:00. Nothing in Morecambe opens before 08:30 on any day.

Open latest

All three close at 21:00 Monday to Friday. On a Saturday Westgate holds 21:00 and the other two close at 20:00; on a Sunday Westgate closes at 20:00 and the other two at 18:00. No Morecambe branch reaches 22:00, so for a late bet the nearest options are the Lancaster city-centre shops on Penny Street and Cheapside, about four miles away.

The weekend shop: Unit 6 in the Westgate Shopping Centre is the latest-trading Betfred in Morecambe on both weekend days — 21:00 on a Saturday and 20:00 on a Sunday, two hours after the others close.

Betfred Morecambe Sunday opening times

Sunday in Morecambe is short at two of the three shops, and the Westgate centre is the exception.

Westgate runs 09:00 to 20:00 on a Sunday; Euston Road and Torrisholme run 10:00 to 18:00. That covers the afternoon football, but for an evening kick-off only Westgate is still open, and only until eight.

Betfred Morecambe bank holiday opening times

Betting shops in England can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all three Morecambe branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.

On the other bank holidays, Morecambe branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Betfred’s own notices have stated that its shops close at 20:00 on bank holiday Mondays, which would take an hour off all three Morecambe branches, so check the window card the week before.

Easter opening times

Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Morecambe branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.

Easter moves each year. Dates shown are the next Easter weekend.

May and August bank holidays

The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before; a 20:00 bank holiday close would take an hour off every Morecambe branch.

All three fall on a Monday, so the dates shift each year.

Christmas and New Year opening times

The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Morecambe times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.

The Christmas Day closure is a licence condition under the Gambling Act 2005. Next dates update automatically.

Each Morecambe branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.

How the live opening times work

Everything live on this page reads the clock in Morecambe (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.

The panel at the top

The top panel covers the town-centre branch on Euston Road. It tells you whether it is open right now and how long until it closes. Westgate and Torrisholme have their own live rows in the section below, and Westgate is the one still open on weekend evenings.

The shop rows

Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.

Map, directions and Street View

Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of all three Morecambe branches.

Betfred across the rest of Morecambe

Two more branches sit east of the town centre: the Westgate Shopping Centre, about a mile south-east, and Lancaster Road in Torrisholme, about a mile and a half east. Both publish weekly times.

Directions work without this. Sharing your location re-orders every list nearest-first.

It is the nearest Betfred to the Mazuma Stadium, home of Morecambe FC. Torrisholme, on the main road towards Lancaster, runs 09:00 to 21:00 on weekdays, 08:30 to 20:00 on a Saturday and 10:00 to 18:00 on a Sunday, matching the town-centre shop.

Betfred near Morecambe

Morecambe sits on Morecambe Bay, and the nearest Betfred branches outside it are in Lancaster, four miles inland.

Lancaster, about four miles south-east, has two Betfreds in the city centre, on Penny Street and Cheapside, and Carnforth, six miles north, has one on Market Street. Blackpool, covered on its own page, is about twenty-five miles south. An older directory also lists a Betfred at 364 Heysham Road (LA3 2BJ), south-west of the town centre; it does not appear in the Gambling Commission licensing register, and a shop cannot legally trade without a premises licence, so we have treated it as closed.

All three Morecambe branches are licensed by Lancaster City Council, as are the Lancaster and Carnforth shops. Directory sites sometimes file Morecambe shops under Lancaster, which is why a search for “Betfred Morecambe” can come up short. Use the location button above to find the nearest of the three.

Other bookmakers in Morecambe

Morecambe has several other bookmakers alongside Betfred; the main ones are listed below.

Morecambe’s other bookmakers are few: a Ladbrokes on Yorkshire Street East and a William Hill on Regent Road, both in the West End about a mile west of the Euston Road Betfred. With three shops, Betfred has more branches in Morecambe than any other bookmaker.

We are still confirming full weekly times branch by branch for the non-Betfred shops in Morecambe, so they are not listed with live status on this page yet. If you are in the West End, the Ladbrokes and William Hill are closer than any Betfred. Every bookmaker in the district is closed on Christmas Day by law.

Betfred began in Salford in 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop, and it runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington, about 55 miles south. Morecambe has three branches — the most of any bookmaker in the town — one near the seafront on Euston Road and two further east at Westgate and Torrisholme. None trades past 21:00, which is typical of a seaside town out of season.

For visitors, 50–54 Euston Road is the one to know: a few minutes from the Promenade, the Winter Gardens and Morecambe station on the line from Lancaster. On a weekend evening, the Westgate Shopping Centre shop stays open later and is the nearer of the three to the Mazuma Stadium.

Frequently asked questions

How many Betfred shops are there in Morecambe?
Three, all licensed by Lancaster City Council: 50–54 Euston Road in the town centre, Unit 6 in the Westgate Shopping Centre on Glentworth Road West, and 336a Lancaster Road in Torrisholme. An older directory also lists a Betfred at 364 Heysham Road, but it does not appear in the licensing register, so we have not counted it.
What time does Betfred open in Morecambe?
All three open at 09:00 Monday to Friday and 08:30 on a Saturday. On a Sunday, Westgate opens at 09:00 and Euston Road and Torrisholme at 10:00.
What time does Betfred close in Morecambe?
All three close at 21:00 Monday to Friday. On a Saturday, Westgate stays open until 21:00 while Euston Road and Torrisholme close at 20:00. No Morecambe branch reaches 22:00 on any day.
Which Betfred in Morecambe is open latest on a Sunday?
Westgate, until 20:00. Euston Road and Torrisholme close at 18:00 on a Sunday, so for a Sunday evening bet the Westgate Shopping Centre shop is the one to head for.
Is Betfred open on Christmas Day?
No. Every betting shop in Great Britain is closed on Christmas Day. It is a condition attached to premises licences under the Gambling Act 2005, not a company decision.
Are Betfred shops in Morecambe open on bank holidays?
Yes. Good Friday, Easter Monday and the May and August bank holidays are all trading days, usually on normal or slightly shortened hours. Betfred’s own notices have stated that its shops close at 20:00 on bank holiday Mondays, which would take an hour off all three Morecambe branches. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally close early, and New Year’s Day opens later.
Which Betfred is nearest to the Promenade and Morecambe station?
50–54 Euston Road is the closest to the Promenade, the Eric Morecambe statue and Morecambe station, all within a few minutes’ walk. For the Mazuma Stadium, home of Morecambe FC, the Westgate Shopping Centre shop is the nearer, about half a mile away.
How do I find the nearest Betfred to me in Morecambe?
Tap “Use my current location”. Every list on this page then re-orders nearest-first, and the directions button at the top routes you to the closest of the three Morecambe Betfred shops.
