Nottingham is the most consistent estate on this site at one end of the day and one of the most varied at the other. Every single one of the 16 branches opens at 09:00 on a Sunday, and on weekdays they all open at either 08:00 or 08:30. The closing times are where they part company: five trade until 22:00, three stop at 20:30, and on a Sunday the spread runs from 18:00 at Wollaton to 22:00 at the Victoria Centre and Carlton Hill. Full published weekly times are available for every branch, so every countdown on this page is the shop’s own.

Every Betfred in this list carries its own published weekly times. Two are in the city centre, a couple of minutes apart on Old Market Square and at the Victoria Centre; the other eight ring the city along the radial roads, from Radford and Hyson Green to the west, Sherwood to the north, Aspley, Bilborough and Wollaton across the west side, Bulwell to the north-west and Clifton to the south. Distances are straight-line estimates from Old Market Square. Street View opens at the shop’s postcode, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.
Nottingham Betfred opening times compared
The full weekly pattern for every city branch in one table. Today’s column is highlighted.
Four of the ten city shops keep identical hours Monday to Saturday: South Parade, the Victoria Centre, Radford and Bilborough. Five of the others trim the Saturday evening by half an hour or an hour — Hyson Green, Sherwood, Aspley, Wollaton and Clifton all close at 20:00 on a Saturday. Bulwell is the one that goes the other way, opening at 08:00 on a Saturday rather than 08:30, then closing half an hour earlier at 21:00.

Earliest and latest Betfred shops in Nottingham
Full weekly times are published for all 16 branches, so this section covers every shop on the page.
Open earliest
No Nottingham Betfred opens before 08:00, and the split is clean: five open at 08:00 on weekdays — South Parade, the Victoria Centre, Beeston High Road, Arnold and Newark — and the other eleven at 08:30. Bulwell is the only branch in the whole estate that brings its opening time forward on a Saturday, to 08:00. Sunday is the most uniform day anywhere on this site: all 16 shops open at 09:00.
Open latest
Five branches trade until 22:00 on weekdays: South Parade and the Victoria Centre in the city centre, Bilborough, Carlton Hill and Arnold. Two more run to 21:30, at West Bridgford and Bulwell. The earliest weekday closing is 20:30, at Hyson Green on Radford Road, Wollaton and Beeston’s Derby Road branch — still later than the suburban norm in most cities of this size.
Open until 22:00 every day: the Victoria Centre branch on Milton Street and Carlton Hill both keep a 22:00 finish seven days a week, Sunday included. They are the only two Betfred shops in the Nottingham area still open at 21:30 on a Sunday evening.
Betfred Nottingham Sunday opening times
Every branch opens at 09:00 on a Sunday, so the only question is when it shuts — and the answer runs across eight different closing times, from 18:00 to 22:00.

| Wollaton (Bramcote Lane)168 Bramcote Lane, NG8 2QP | 09:00 | 18:00 |
The Victoria Centre and Carlton Hill are the two to head for on a Sunday evening, both open until 22:00, with West Bridgford until 21:30 and South Parade and Arnold until 21:00. At the other end, Wollaton closes at 18:00 and Clifton at 18:30, so if you are in the south or west of the city an early Sunday visit is the safer bet.
Betfred Nottingham bank holiday opening times
Betting shops in England can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all 16 branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.
On the other bank holidays, Nottingham branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide 20:00 close on bank holiday Mondays, which would cut two hours off the 22:00 branches. Dates in the tables below update automatically.
Easter opening times
Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Nottingham branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.
| Day | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Good Friday | Friday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal weekday times |
| Easter Saturday | Saturday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal Saturday times |
| Easter Sunday | First Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March | — | Normal Sunday times |
| Easter Monday | Day after Easter Sunday | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
May and August bank holidays
The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before, particularly at the five 22:00 branches where an early close makes the biggest difference.
| Bank holiday | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early May bank holiday | First Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
| Spring bank holiday | Last Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
| Summer bank holiday | Last Monday in August | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
Christmas and New Year opening times
The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Nottingham times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.
| Day | Date | Next date | Usual pattern in Nottingham |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christmas Eve | 24 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| Christmas Day | 25 December | — | Closed all day, every shop |
| Boxing Day | 26 December | — | Normal opening, close around 20:00 |
| Substitute bank holiday | When 25 or 26 December falls on a weekend | — | Normal times for that day |
| New Year’s Eve | 31 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| New Year’s Day | 1 January | — | Later start around 10:00, close around 20:00 |
Each Nottingham branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The Victoria Centre shop may also follow the shopping centre’s own festive hours. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.
How the live opening times work
Everything live on this page reads the clock in Nottingham (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.
The panel at the top
The top panel covers the ten Betfred branches inside Nottingham city. It tells you how many are open right now, which is next to close, and how long until the last one shuts for the night. After the last close it switches to counting down to the first shop opening the next morning.
The shop rows
Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.
Map, directions and Street View
Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of the 15 branches in and around the city. The Newark shop is left out of that calculation because it is sixteen miles away.
Betfred in West Bridgford, Carlton, Arnold and Beeston
Five more branches carry a Nottingham address but sit just outside the city boundary, in Rushcliffe, Gedling and Broxtowe. All five publish full weekly times, so their live status is as exact as the city shops’.
Betfred in Rushcliffe: West Bridgford 1 shop
-
Betfred, West Bridgford (Central Avenue)5/7 Central Avenue, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 5GQ
Betfred in Gedling: Carlton and Arnold 2 shops
-
Betfred, Carlton Hill329/331 Carlton Hill, Carlton, Nottingham NG4 1JE
-
Betfred, Arnold (Front Street)71–73 Front Street, Arnold, Nottingham NG5 7EB
Betfred in Broxtowe: Beeston 2 shops
-
Betfred, Beeston (Derby Road)3 Derby Road, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 2TA
-
Betfred, Beeston (High Road)11–13 High Road, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 2JL
These five are licensed by Rushcliffe Borough Council, Gedling Borough Council and Broxtowe Borough Council rather than Nottingham City Council, even though their postal addresses say Nottingham. Two of them are among the strongest in the area: Carlton Hill matches the Victoria Centre with a 22:00 finish seven days a week, and Arnold runs 08:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday. West Bridgford is the pick for Trent Bridge and the City Ground, and it holds its 21:30 closing time on a Sunday as well.
Betfred in Newark-on-Trent
The sixteenth shop on the Nottingham list is not in Nottingham at all. 16 Market Place is in Newark-on-Trent, sixteen miles north-east, which has its own post town and its own Betfred listing.
-
Betfred, Newark-on-Trent (Market Place)16 Market Place, Newark-on-Trent, Nottingham NG24 1EQ
It is included here because directory listings count it under Nottingham, and its times are published, so the live status works exactly as it does for the city shops. It is one of the five branches opening at 08:00 on a weekday, and the only one in the whole group that closes later on a Saturday (21:30) than on a weekday (21:00). Newark has two further betting shops of its own, a Ladbrokes on Market Place and another on Bowbridge Road.
Other bookmakers in Nottingham
Nottingham is a Coral and Ladbrokes city as much as a Betfred one. Against Betfred’s 16 shops, Coral has 15 and Ladbrokes 13, with William Hill down to three, one Paddy Power and one Jennings — around 49 betting shops in total across the city and its boroughs.
The competition is closest in the city centre, where Coral trades on Long Row and Upper Parliament Street and Ladbrokes on Clumber Street, Milton Street and Lower Parliament Street, all within a few minutes of the two Betfred branches. Out in the suburbs the pattern repeats: a Coral at 396 Broxtowe Lane beside the Betfred at 292, a Ladbrokes at 240–242 Ilkeston Road next door to the Betfred at 236, a Ladbrokes on Front Street in Arnold and a William Hill further along the same street, and a Ladbrokes at 366–368 Carlton Hill facing the Betfred at 329.
We are still confirming full weekly times branch by branch for the non-Betfred shops in Nottingham, so they are not listed with live status on this page yet. Several open earlier or later than their Betfred neighbours — the Coral on Upper Parliament Street and the Ladbrokes on Lower Parliament Street both open at 08:00 and close at 22:00 — so if a Betfred is shut there is usually an alternative within a couple of minutes. Every bookmaker in the city is closed on Christmas Day by law.

Betfred began in Salford in 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop, and it runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington. Nottingham is its biggest East Midlands presence: 16 shops on the Nottingham list against 12 in Leicester. The shape is a classic radial one. Two branches sit in the middle, on Old Market Square and inside the Victoria Centre, and the rest follow the arterial roads out — Ilkeston Road and Radford Road west, Mansfield Road north to Sherwood, Aspley Lane and Broxtowe Lane across the western estates, Bramcote Lane to Wollaton, Main Street to Bulwell and Southchurch Drive south to Clifton. Beyond the boundary, Carlton and Arnold cover Gedling, Beeston has two shops in Broxtowe and West Bridgford serves Rushcliffe.
For travellers, 5 South Parade on Old Market Square is about a ten-minute walk from Nottingham station and sits on the tram lines through the city centre; the Victoria Centre branch on Milton Street is closest to the bus station. On matchdays, 5/7 Central Avenue in West Bridgford is the nearest branch to both the City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest, and Trent Bridge, around half a mile from each, with Meadow Lane a similar distance. For racing at Nottingham Racecourse in Colwick, the Carlton Hill shop is the closest at about a mile and a half.
