Oldham has four Betfred shops, and none of them is in the town centre itself: the Spindles Shopping Centre branch on the licensing register no longer appears in current listings. The nearest to the centre is Eldon Precinct, a quarter of a mile south. The late shop is Chadderton Precinct, open 08:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday. A note on Eldon Precinct: its listed hours — 10:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saturday but 10:00 to 20:30 on a Sunday — are unusual for a betting shop and come from a single listing, so they are worth confirming before a visit.

Eldon Precinct is listed as open 10:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 20:30 on a Sunday. That is an unusually short weekday for a betting shop, and a Sunday that runs later than the week is rare; we have published the listing as it stands, but check before relying on it. In the town centre itself, William Hill on the High Street, Ladbrokes on Market Place, and Paddy Power and Coral on Henshaw Street all trade until 21:30 or 22:00. Distances are straight-line estimates from the Parish Church. Street View opens at the shop’s position, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.

Oldham Betfred opening times compared

The full weekly pattern for all four branches in one table, nearest the town centre first. Today’s column is highlighted.

The four shops keep very different hours. Chadderton Precinct is the long day, 08:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday. Royton runs 08:30 to 21:00, and Coalshaw Green Road 09:00 to 20:30 on weekdays with a shorter Saturday. Eldon Precinct, as listed, keeps the shortest week, 10:00 to 18:00, but the latest Sunday after Chadderton.

Earliest and latest Betfred shops in Oldham

Full weekly times are published for all four branches, so this section covers every shop on the page.

Open earliest

Chadderton Precinct opens at 08:00 Monday to Saturday, Royton at 08:30, Coalshaw Green Road at 09:00 on weekdays and 08:30 on a Saturday, and Eldon Precinct at 10:00. On a Sunday, Chadderton Precinct opens at 09:00, Royton at 09:30, and the other two at 10:00.

Open latest

Chadderton Precinct closes at 22:00 Monday to Saturday, the only Oldham Betfred to do so. Royton closes at 21:00, Coalshaw Green Road at 20:30 on weekdays and 20:00 on a Saturday, and Eldon Precinct at 18:00. For a late bet, Chadderton Precinct — or the town-centre rivals — is the answer.

The one to remember: Unit 26, Chadderton Precinct is open 08:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 09:00 to 21:00 on a Sunday — the longest hours of any Betfred in Oldham on every day of the week.

Betfred Oldham bank holiday opening times

Betting shops in England can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all four Oldham branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.

On the other bank holidays, Oldham branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide 20:00 close on bank holiday Mondays, which would take two hours off Chadderton Precinct and an hour off Royton. Dates in the tables below update automatically.

Easter opening times

Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Oldham branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.

Easter moves each year. Dates shown are the next Easter weekend.

May and August bank holidays

The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before; a 20:00 bank holiday close would take up to two hours off the Oldham branches and make no difference at the shop already closing at 20:00 or earlier.

All three fall on a Monday, so the dates shift each year.

Christmas and New Year opening times

The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Oldham times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.

The Christmas Day closure is a licence condition under the Gambling Act 2005. Next dates update automatically.

Each Oldham branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.

How the live opening times work

Everything live on this page reads the clock in Oldham (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.

The panel at the top

The top panel covers Eldon Precinct, the branch nearest the town centre. It tells you whether it is open right now and how long until it closes. The Chadderton and Royton branches have their own live rows in the section below.

The shop rows

Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.

Map, directions and Street View

Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of all four Oldham branches.

Betfred across the rest of Oldham

Three more branches serve the rest of the borough: two in Chadderton, west of the town centre, and one in Royton to the north.

Directions work without this. Sharing your location re-orders every list nearest-first.

Chadderton Precinct on Middleton Road is the busiest of the three, with a BOYLE Sports next door in Chadderton Mall and a Ladbrokes on Chadderton Road. Coalshaw Green Road, in the south of Chadderton towards Hollinwood, keeps shorter hours. Royton’s Market Street shop sits a few doors from a William Hill.

Betfred near Oldham

Oldham sits on the eastern edge of Greater Manchester, and the licensing register and current listings do not quite match.

The register lists a Betfred at Unit 38B, Spindles Shopping Centre (OL1 1JG), in the middle of the town centre; it does not appear in current listings, so we have not counted it — if it is trading, let us know. In the other direction, 5–7 Market Street in Royton appears in current listings but not in the register extract we hold, which may simply pre-date it; we have included it. Manchester, about seven miles south-west, is covered on its own page, and Rochdale, five miles north, has three Betfred branches of its own.

All four branches are licensed by Oldham Council. If you are heading for Rochdale, Ashton-under-Lyne or Manchester rather than Oldham itself, use the location button above: the directions button always routes to the nearest of the four Oldham branches.

Other bookmakers in Oldham

Oldham town centre is served entirely by Betfred’s rivals.

William Hill has six shops in Oldham, including 18 High Street in the centre and Market Street in Royton. Ladbrokes has five, among them 25 Market Place and Chadderton Road; Coral three, including Henshaw Street; Paddy Power two, including Henshaw Street; and BOYLE Sports one, in Chadderton Mall.

We are still confirming full weekly times branch by branch for the non-Betfred shops in Oldham, so they are not listed with live status on this page yet. In the town centre, Ladbrokes on Market Place and Paddy Power and Coral on Henshaw Street are open until 22:00. Every bookmaker in the borough is closed on Christmas Day by law.

Betfred began in Salford in 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop, and it runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington, about twenty-five miles west. Salford itself is just seven miles from Oldham, but Betfred’s presence here is thin: four shops, none of them in the town centre, with William Hill and Ladbrokes both larger in the borough.

For visitors, Chadderton Precinct is the most useful Betfred: open 08:00 to 22:00 six days a week and the nearest to Boundary Park, home of Oldham Athletic. Eldon Precinct is the closest to the town centre and Oldham Central Metrolink stop, but check its hours before relying on them.

Frequently asked questions

How many Betfred shops are there in Oldham?
Four appear in current listings, all licensed by Oldham Council: 5–6 Eldon Precinct just south of the town centre, two in Chadderton at Chadderton Precinct and Coalshaw Green Road, and 5–7 Market Street in Royton. The licensing register also lists a shop in the Spindles Shopping Centre in the town centre, which does not appear in current listings.
Is there a Betfred in Oldham town centre?
Not that current listings confirm. The register’s Spindles Shopping Centre shop no longer appears, so the nearest Betfred to the town centre is 5–6 Eldon Precinct, about a quarter of a mile south. William Hill, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Coral all have shops in the centre itself.
What time does Betfred open in Oldham?
Chadderton Precinct opens at 08:00, Royton at 08:30, Coalshaw Green Road at 09:00 and Eldon Precinct at 10:00 on weekdays. Sunday openings run from 09:00 at Chadderton Precinct to 10:00 at Eldon Precinct and Coalshaw Green Road.
What time does Betfred close in Oldham?
Chadderton Precinct is the late shop, open until 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 21:00 on a Sunday. Royton closes at 21:00 and Coalshaw Green Road at 20:30 on weekdays. Eldon Precinct is listed as closing at 18:00 Monday to Saturday — unusually early — but 20:30 on a Sunday.
Is Betfred open on Christmas Day?
No. Every betting shop in Great Britain is closed on Christmas Day. It is a condition attached to premises licences under the Gambling Act 2005, not a company decision.
Are Betfred shops in Oldham open on bank holidays?
Yes. Good Friday, Easter Monday and the May and August bank holidays are all trading days, usually on normal or slightly shortened hours. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide 20:00 close on bank holiday Mondays. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally close early, and New Year’s Day opens later.
Which Betfred is nearest to Boundary Park?
For Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park, Chadderton Precinct is the nearest Betfred, about a mile south-west of the ground, and it is open until 22:00 on a matchday evening. Royton is a similar distance to the north-east.
How do I find the nearest Betfred to me in Oldham?
Tap “Use my current location”. Every list on this page then re-orders nearest-first, and the directions button at the top routes you to the closest of the four Oldham Betfred shops.
