Rochdale’s three Betfred shops divide neatly in two. Yorkshire Street, in the town centre, is open 08:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 09:00 to 22:00 on a Sunday. The two outer shops, at Mayfield and in Castleton, keep matching shorter hours: 20:30 on weekdays, 20:00 on a Saturday and 18:00 on a Sunday. Both open earlier on a Saturday than during the week. After 20:30 on any day, Yorkshire Street is the only Betfred open in the town.

Yorkshire Street runs 08:00 to 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 09:00 to 22:00 on a Sunday. The town centre is busy with rivals: a Paddy Power further down Yorkshire Street, a William Hill on Baillie Street, a Ladbrokes at The Butts and a Coral on Drake Street, all open until 22:00. Distances are straight-line estimates from the Town Hall. Street View opens at the shop’s position, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.

The outer shops mirror each other: 09:00 to 20:30 on weekdays, 08:30 to 20:00 on a Saturday, and a Sunday that ends at 18:00, with Mayfield opening half an hour before Castleton. Yorkshire Street runs longer on every day of the week, and on a Sunday it is open four hours after the other two have closed.

Earliest and latest Betfred shops in Rochdale

Full weekly times are published for all three branches, so this section covers every shop on the page.

Open earliest

Yorkshire Street opens at 08:00 Monday to Saturday. Mayfield and Castleton open at 09:00 on weekdays and 08:30 on a Saturday. On a Sunday, Yorkshire Street opens at 09:00, Mayfield at 09:30 and Castleton at 10:00.

Open latest

Yorkshire Street closes at 22:00 every day. Mayfield and Castleton close at 20:30 on weekdays, 20:00 on a Saturday and 18:00 on a Sunday. For a late bet near either outer shop, the William Hill on Whitworth Road and the Ladbrokes at Kirkholt both trade until later.

The one to remember: 44–46 Yorkshire Street is open until 22:00 on every day of the week, including Sunday — the only Rochdale Betfred that is.

Betfred Rochdale Sunday opening times

Sunday in Rochdale is short at two of the three shops, and Yorkshire Street is the exception.

Betfred Rochdale bank holiday opening times

Betting shops in England can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all three Rochdale branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.

On the other bank holidays, Rochdale branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide 20:00 close on bank holiday Mondays, which would take two hours off Yorkshire Street and half an hour off Mayfield and Castleton, so check the window card the week before.

Easter opening times

Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Rochdale branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.

Easter moves each year. Dates shown are the next Easter weekend.

May and August bank holidays

The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before; a 20:00 bank holiday close would take up to two hours off the Rochdale branches.

All three fall on a Monday, so the dates shift each year.

Christmas and New Year opening times

The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Rochdale times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.

The Christmas Day closure is a licence condition under the Gambling Act 2005. Next dates update automatically.

Each Rochdale branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.

How the live opening times work

Everything live on this page reads the clock in Rochdale (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.

The panel at the top

The top panel covers the town-centre branch on Yorkshire Street. It tells you whether it is open right now and how long until it closes. Mayfield and Castleton have their own live rows in the section below.

The shop rows

Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.

Map, directions and Street View

Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of all three Rochdale branches.

Betfred across the rest of Rochdale

Two more branches sit outside the town centre: Mayfield on Albert Royds Street, about a mile north-east, and Manchester Road in Castleton, about two miles south-west. Both publish full weekly times.

Directions work without this. Sharing your location re-orders every list nearest-first.

Castleton’s shop is on Manchester Road, the main route towards Middleton and Manchester, and a short walk from Castleton station; the Ladbrokes in Kirkholt is the nearest rival. Both close at 20:30 on weekdays and 18:00 on a Sunday.

Betfred near Rochdale

Rochdale sits at the foot of the South Pennines, and the nearest Betfred branches outside it are in the neighbouring Greater Manchester towns.

Oldham, about five miles south, and Bury, about six miles west, are covered on their own pages. The licensing register lists the town-centre shop at 7 Yorkshire Street (OL16 1BH); current listings place it at 44–46 Yorkshire Street, further up the same street, and a Paddy Power now trades at 15 Yorkshire Street under the older postcode. It is most likely the same shop at a newer address.

All three Rochdale branches are licensed by Rochdale Borough Council. If you are heading for Heywood, Littleborough or Middleton rather than Rochdale itself, use the location button above to find the nearest of the three.

Other bookmakers in Rochdale

Rochdale has three Betfreds, level with Ladbrokes and William Hill on three shops each.

Ladbrokes and William Hill have three shops each in Rochdale, including The Butts and Kirkholt for Ladbrokes, and Baillie Street, Whitworth Road and Oldham Road for William Hill. Coral has two, including Drake Street; Paddy Power trades at 15 Yorkshire Street, and BOYLE Sports has one shop in the town.

We are still confirming full weekly times branch by branch for the non-Betfred shops in Rochdale, so they are not listed with live status on this page yet. Most of the town-centre rivals trade until 22:00, matching Yorkshire Street. Every bookmaker in the borough is closed on Christmas Day by law.

Betfred began in Salford in 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop, and it runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington, about 30 miles south-west. Rochdale has three branches, level with Ladbrokes and William Hill, and one of them — Yorkshire Street — is open until 22:00 every day of the week.

For visitors, Yorkshire Street is the one to know: a few minutes from the Town Hall, the Rochdale Exchange and the town-centre Metrolink stop, and open until 22:00 every day. It is also the nearest Betfred to Spotland, home of Rochdale AFC, about a mile west.
