Salford is where Betfred began — Fred Done opened his first shop in the city in 1967 — and it still has seven branches. Which one stays open latest depends on the day. On weekdays the two Salford Shopping City shops and Bolton Road trade until 22:00; on a Saturday only Bolton Road does; and on a Sunday the late shop is Langworthy Road in Seedley, until 21:00. Three of the seven close at 18:00 on a Sunday.

Both keep the same hours: 08:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 21:00 on a Saturday and 09:00 to 20:00 on a Sunday. The licensing register holds a separate licence for each, and they sit a couple of hundred yards apart within the precinct. A Ladbrokes on Sutton Way, also in Shopping City, trades until 22:00. Distances are straight-line estimates from the Shopping City precinct. Street View opens at the shop’s position, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.

Betfred Salford bank holiday opening times
Betting shops in England can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so all seven Salford branches close on 25 December by law rather than by choice.
On the other bank holidays, Salford branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide 20:00 close on bank holiday Mondays, which would take two hours off the Shopping City shops and Bolton Road. Dates in the tables below update automatically.
Easter opening times
Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Salford branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.
| Day | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Good Friday | Friday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal weekday times |
| Easter Saturday | Saturday before Easter Sunday | — | Normal Saturday times |
| Easter Sunday | First Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March | — | Normal Sunday times |
| Easter Monday | Day after Easter Sunday | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
May and August bank holidays
The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before; a 20:00 bank holiday close would take up to two hours off the Salford branches and make no difference at the shop already closing at 20:00 or earlier.
| Bank holiday | Falls on | Next date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early May bank holiday | First Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
| Spring bank holiday | Last Monday in May | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
| Summer bank holiday | Last Monday in August | — | Weekday opening, possible 20:00 close |
Christmas and New Year opening times
The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Salford times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.
| Day | Date | Next date | Usual pattern in Salford |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christmas Eve | 24 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| Christmas Day | 25 December | — | Closed all day, every shop |
| Boxing Day | 26 December | — | Normal opening, close around 20:00 |
| Substitute bank holiday | When 25 or 26 December falls on a weekend | — | Normal times for that day |
| New Year’s Eve | 31 December | — | Normal opening, early close around 18:00 |
| New Year’s Day | 1 January | — | Later start around 10:00, close around 20:00 |
Each Salford branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.
How the live opening times work
Everything live on this page reads the clock in Salford (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.
The panel at the top
The top panel covers the two Salford Shopping City branches. It tells you how many are open right now and how long until they close. The other five have their own live rows in the section below.
The shop rows
Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.
Map, directions and Street View
Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of all seven Salford branches.
Betfred across the rest of Salford
Five more branches serve the rest of the city: Langworthy Road in Seedley and Bolton Road at Irlams o’ th’ Height to the west, Broughton Road and Littleton Road in Lower Kersal to the north, and Radclyffe Park on Trafford Road in Ordsall.

Bolton Road is the weekend late shop, with a William Hill a little further along at 375 Bolton Road. Langworthy Road is the Sunday shop, and William Hill’s Liverpool Street branch is nearby. Littleton Road is closest to the Ladbrokes on Great Cheetham Street East. Radclyffe Park, a short walk from Salford Quays and MediaCityUK, keeps the shortest hours of the seven.
Betfred near Salford
Salford sits across the Irwell from Manchester city centre, and the licensing register lists one address that current listings do not.
The register lists 6 Union Terrace on Bury Old Road (M7 4ZH) in Broughton, which does not appear in current listings, so we have not counted it. Swinton, just outside the city’s inner area, has a Betfred in its shopping centre that directory sites file under Manchester. Manchester, across the river, and Bolton, Bury and Oldham are covered on their own pages.
All seven branches are licensed by Salford City Council. If you are heading for Eccles, Swinton or Prestwich rather than Salford itself, use the location button above: the directions button always routes to the nearest of the seven Salford branches.
Other bookmakers in Salford
Betfred is by far the largest bookmaker in Salford, with seven shops to Ladbrokes’ three.
Ladbrokes has three shops in Salford, including Sutton Way in Shopping City and Great Cheetham Street East; William Hill and Coral have one each within the city listings, with further William Hills on Bolton Road and Liverpool Street nearby.
We are still confirming full weekly times branch by branch for the non-Betfred shops in Salford, so they are not listed with live status on this page yet. The Ladbrokes in Shopping City and the William Hill on Bolton Road both trade until 22:00. Every bookmaker in the city is closed on Christmas Day by law.

Betfred began here: in 1967 brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop in Salford, and in 2004 a customer in a Salford shop became the first betting-shop millionaire. The company now runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington, about fifteen miles west, and Salford has seven branches — more than every other bookmaker in the city combined.
For visitors, the Shopping City shops at Pendleton are the ones to know, about half a mile from Salford Crescent station and open until 22:00 on weekdays. For Salford Quays, MediaCityUK and the Lowry, Radclyffe Park on Trafford Road is the nearest Betfred.
