The Lumley Road shop runs 08:30 to 21:00 on weekdays, 08:00 to 21:00 on a Saturday and 09:00 to 19:00 on a Sunday. Lumley Road is the town’s main shopping street, between the station and the Clock Tower. Distances are straight-line estimates from the Clock Tower. Street View opens at the shop’s position, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.

Betfred Skegness bank holiday opening times

Betting shops in England can trade on every bank holiday bar one. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on Christmas Day, so the Skegness shop closes on 25 December by law rather than by choice.

On the other bank holidays, the Skegness shop usually runs either its normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide 20:00 close on bank holiday Mondays, which would take an hour off the Lumley Road shop. Dates in the tables below update automatically.

Easter opening times

Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Great Britain. Across the Easter weekend, expect the Skegness shop to follow its usual pattern for that day.

Easter moves each year. Dates shown are the next Easter weekend.

May and August bank holidays

The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday. Check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before, and the shop would lose an hour if it applies.

All three fall on a Monday, so the dates shift each year.

Christmas and New Year opening times

The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Skegness times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally finish early, Boxing Day — the biggest racing day of the winter — runs close to normal, and New Year’s Day starts later.

The Christmas Day closure is a licence condition under the Gambling Act 2005. Next dates update automatically.

Each Skegness branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The shop sits in the town centre, so its festive hours tend to track the trading pattern of the shops around the Market Place. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.

How the live opening times work

Everything live on this page reads the clock in Skegness (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.

The panel at the top

The top panel covers the 73 Lumley Road branch, the only Betfred in Skegness. It tells you whether it is open right now and how long until it closes, and after closing it counts down to the next morning’s opening.

The shop rows

Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.

Map, directions and Street View

Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the page measures your distance to the shop, and the directions button plans a route from wherever you are.

The licensing register lists a second Skegness Betfred at 101 Lumley Road, a short walk from number 73. Betfred’s own shop listing now marks it as closed, so we have not given it a live row. If you remember two Betfreds on Lumley Road, 73 is the one still trading.

Betfred began in Salford in 1967, when brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop, and it runs its estate from Birchwood in Warrington, about 110 miles west. Skegness has a single Betfred on Lumley Road, where the register once also carried a second shop at number 101.

For visitors, the Lumley Road shop is on the main walk from the station to the Clock Tower and the seafront. It opens at 08:00 on a Saturday and closes at 21:00 Monday to Saturday, so there is time to call in after a day on the beach.
