Distances are straight-line estimates from Castle Square. Street View opens at the shop’s position, so you may need to turn the view to face the shopfront.

Every Swansea branch keeps the same hours on a Saturday as on a weekday, which is unusual. The differences are all in the Sunday column, and in Brynhyfryd’s earlier 21:00 close.

Earliest and latest Betfred shops in Swansea

Full weekly times are published for all four Swansea branches, so this section covers every shop on the page.

Open earliest

Union Street is the earliest Betfred in Swansea on weekdays, opening at 08:00 Monday to Saturday. The other three open at 08:30. On a Sunday the earliest is Ravenhill, at 08:30, with the rest at 09:00.

Open latest

Three branches trade until 22:00 Monday to Saturday: Union Street, Ravenhill and Morriston. Brynhyfryd closes at 21:00, the earliest of the four on every day of the week.

The longest day in the city: Ravenhill runs 08:30 to 22:00 on all seven days — thirteen and a half hours every day, including Sunday. Union Street is half an hour longer Monday to Saturday, from 08:00.

Betfred Swansea Sunday opening times

For a Sunday evening bet, Union Street and Ravenhill are both open until 22:00, with Morriston until 21:00 and Brynhyfryd until 20:30. Ravenhill also opens earliest, at 08:30, the same as every other day of its week.

Betfred Swansea bank holiday opening times

Wales keeps the same bank holidays as England, and betting shops can trade on every one of them bar Christmas Day. Premises licences issued under the Gambling Act 2005 carry a condition that gambling facilities cannot be provided on 25 December, so all four Swansea branches close that day by law rather than by choice.

St David’s Day on 1 March is a national day rather than a bank holiday, so Swansea shops keep their normal times. On the actual bank holidays, branches usually run either their normal times for that day of the week or a slightly shorter day. Dates in the tables below update automatically.

Easter opening times

Betting shops have been allowed to open on Good Friday since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force, and there is no Easter Sunday restriction in Wales. Across the Easter weekend, expect each Swansea branch to follow its usual pattern for that day.

Easter moves each year. Dates shown are the next Easter weekend.

May and August bank holidays

The early May, spring and summer bank holidays all fall on a Monday in Wales, as in England. Betfred has in past years announced a chain-wide early close on some bank holiday Mondays, so check the window card or the Betfred shop finder the week before.

All three fall on a Monday, so the dates shift each year.

Christmas and New Year opening times

The festive fortnight is the only stretch of the year when Swansea times move far from the weekly pattern. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve usually close early, Christmas Day is closed by law, and Boxing Day and New Year’s Day often open later than usual.

The Christmas Day closure is a licence condition under the Gambling Act 2005. Next dates update automatically.

New Year’s Eve31 December—Normal opening, early close around 18:00

Each Swansea branch sets its own festive times and usually posts them in the window from mid-December. The live countdowns on this page follow the standard weekly times and the Christmas Day closure only, so check the window card before travelling on 24, 26 or 31 December or 1 January.

How the live opening times work

Everything live on this page reads the clock in Swansea (UK time), not the clock on your device, and compares it against each shop’s published times. That keeps the status right even if you are checking from abroad.

The panel at the top

The top panel covers the six Betfred branches within about a mile of the city centre. It tells you how many are open right now, which is next to close, and how long until the last one shuts for the night. After the last close it switches to counting down to the first shop opening the next morning.

The shop rows

Open now means the shop is inside its published times and the countdown shows how long is left. Closed shows when it opens next. Counters stop taking cash bets a few minutes before closing so staff can settle slips, so if you are collecting winnings, aim to arrive ten minutes before the time shown.

Map, directions and Street View

Each row has three buttons. Map drops a pin on the shop, Directions plans a route from wherever you are, and Street View shows the street around the shop so you can spot the frontage before you set off. Tap “Use my current location” and the lists re-order themselves so the closest shop is always at the top, and the directions button points to the nearest of all four Swansea branches.

Betfred in Ravenhill and Morriston

Two branches sit further out: Ravenhill on Pentregethin Road, about two and a third miles from the centre, and Morriston on Woodfield Street, about three and a quarter miles north.

Directions work without this. Sharing your location re-orders the list nearest-first.

    3.3 mi from Castle Square · Mon–Sat 08:30–22:00 · Sun 09:00–21:00

Both match Union Street’s 22:00 close Monday to Saturday. Ravenhill is the only Betfred in the city that keeps exactly the same hours on a Sunday as on a weekday, 08:30 to 22:00, and there is a Coral directly opposite at 561a Pentregethin Road. Morriston closes at 21:00 on a Sunday and has a Coral on Clase Road.

Betfred near Swansea

Two Swansea Betfreds are in the licensing register but not in current listings, and one listed shop is in another town.

The register lists Betfreds at 19 Oxford Street, a few minutes from Union Street, and 61 Uplands Crescent in Uplands; neither appears in current listings, so we have not given them live rows. Directory sites also file a Betfred at 56 Station Road, Port Talbot, under Swansea. Port Talbot is about seven miles east, in the Neath Port Talbot council area, so it is not on this page. Neath and Llanelli have their own Betfreds too.

If you are heading for Gorseinon, Sketty or the Mumbles rather than the city centre, use the location button above: the directions button always routes to the nearest of the four.

Weekday times in every row are published for that branch. These bookmakers do not publish weekend times for their Swansea shops in the same way, so we list the weekday hours only. Coral and Ladbrokes each have four shops in the city, William Hill two and Paddy Power one.

Union Street is the most competitive stretch in the city: the Betfred at number 8, a Paddy Power at 15, a Coral at 17 and a Ladbrokes at 20, all open until 22:00. Pentregethin Road is the other one, with the Ravenhill Betfred at 560 and a Coral at 561a directly opposite.

For travellers, 8 Union Street is the one to know: the closest to Swansea station and the bus station, and open until 22:00 every day of the week.

Frequently asked questions

How many Betfred shops are there in Swansea?
Four Betfred betting shops carry a Swansea address in current listings, all licensed by Swansea Council: 8 Union Street in the city centre, 303–307 Llangyfelach Road in Brynhyfryd, 560 Pentregethin Road in Ravenhill and 7–8 Woodfield Street in Morriston. The licensing register also lists 19 Oxford Street and 61 Uplands Crescent, which do not appear in current listings.
What time does Betfred open in Swansea?
Union Street opens at 08:00 Monday to Saturday. The other three open at 08:30 and keep the same time on a Saturday. On a Sunday, Ravenhill opens at 08:30, the earliest in the city, and the other three at 09:00.
What time does Betfred close in Swansea?
Three close at 22:00 Monday to Saturday: Union Street, Ravenhill and Morriston. Brynhyfryd closes at 21:00. On a Sunday, Union Street and Ravenhill stay open until 22:00, Morriston until 21:00 and Brynhyfryd until 20:30.
Which Betfred in Swansea is open latest on a Sunday?
Two shops are open until 22:00 on a Sunday: 8 Union Street in the city centre and 560 Pentregethin Road in Ravenhill. Ravenhill is the unusual one, keeping 08:30 to 22:00 on all four days of the week.
Is Betfred open on Christmas Day?
No. Every betting shop in Wales, England and Scotland is closed on Christmas Day. It is a condition attached to premises licences under the Gambling Act 2005, not a company decision.
Are Betfred shops in Swansea open on bank holidays?
Yes. Wales keeps the same bank holidays as England, so Good Friday, Easter Monday and the May and August bank holidays are all trading days, usually on normal or slightly shortened hours. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve normally close early, and New Year’s Day opens later. St David’s Day on 1 March is not a bank holiday, so shops trade as usual.
Which Betfred is nearest to Swansea station and the Swans’ ground?
8 Union Street is the closest to Swansea station and the city-centre shops, about half a mile away. For the Swans’ ground in Landore, the nearest is Brynhyfryd, under half a mile, but it closes at 21:00 on weekdays and 20:30 on a Sunday, so for an evening game Union Street or Ravenhill will still be open.
How do I find the nearest Betfred to me in Swansea?
Tap “Use my current location”. Every list on this page then re-orders nearest-first, and the directions button at the top routes you to the closest of the four Swansea Betfred shops.
